My name is Laura Parker and I’m a freelance illustrator from Galway in the west of Ireland.

A little bit about my background in art and how I got here today! My love for all things art and design has been a huge part of my life for as long as I can remember, from painting murals on my bedroom walls (sorry Mam) to entering every possible art competition growing up. I’m so lucky to say I’ve had an amazingly supportive family who ensured I followed my dream of studying art in college. I went on to start my art education at the Limerick School of Art and Design in 2012 and went on to study Printmaking and Contemporary Practice (greatest department)!

Screen printing, collage and altering film photography were my loves. This unveiled a world of colours and designs and I absolutely loved the processes. My dream was always to go on to do a Masters in Art Therapy in Crawford College of Art and Design but the timing was just not right for me but I made sure to keep educating myself of the importance of colour in therapy and my own personal growth.
I began to create digitally in 2019 just as a hobby and to bring some colour into my designs. My style has grown immensely in these two years and my own aesthetic has most definitely emerged in this time. My amazing tutors in LSAD always said to us to be aware of our designs and to acknowledge reoccurring patterns and themes as this is what we are naturally drawn to. I’m fascinated with cultures throughout the world particularly those with strong mythological backgrounds and this also ties in with my love of the solar system and planets within it.
